21x26 inch Monoprint. This piece reads like a quiet field of language turned into landscape—a densely packed rectangle of marks built from antique letterpress type, printed as a monotype.
At first glance it feels almost architectural: hundreds of small, uneven blocks stack together like a compressed city grid, a wall of fragments, or the cross-section of an old growth surface. As you look closer, the individual type pieces reveal themselves—tiny rectangles, slivers, and broken edges—each one carrying the subtle identity of something that once spoke (a letter, a word, a sentence), now repurposed into pure texture.
The print is a deep forest green—earthy, botanical, and worn-in—set against a clean white margin. The negative space between the type becomes its own drawing: a network of thin pale channels that resemble cracks, roots, streets, or rivers, giving the block a living rhythm.
The overall effect is minimal but intensely tactile: a record of pressure, ink, and time—where the history of printing is rearranged into a single abstract form.
