Take a Shot is an abstract monoprint made from vintage letterpress type—an impression built from language, pressure, and chance.
A fractured block of deep green marks spreads across the paper like a broken map or an aerial terrain. Hundreds of type pieces form an irregular grid, but the structure feels disrupted—tilting, scattering, and breaking apart at the edges. The negative space between the forms becomes just as important as the ink itself, cutting through the composition like cracks, pathways, or missing information.
The title Take a Shot suggests both spontaneity and risk—an act of committing without certainty. This work feels like a captured moment: instinctive, physical, and slightly unruly. What were once letters meant to communicate now become texture and rhythm—an image that hints at censorship, memory, and movement without ever resolving into readable text.
