This original hand-made print is from an Alaskan Cypress (Cupressus nootkatensis), cut from a previously fallen tree outside of Ketchikan and near the Tongass National Forest.
Alaskan Cypress has been used throughout history by many of the indigenous societies that inhabit the NorthWestern parts of the United States. The Tlingit culture describes how the cypress was used to create the first killer whale.
